To be placed on the waitlist, you will be asked to do the following:
Once your application is received, we will contact you and ask that you submit a $35 deposit to secure your place on our waitlist. Returning customers are given a 50% discount and are asked for a $10 deposit. Retirement hamsters are gifted freely, provided you have an appropriate home for them.
Our waitlist is constantly changing, as mama hamsters are unpredictable depending on the season, litter size, and other factors. It can be as short as 2 months, or up to 6 months. Once you are on the waitlist, we will contact you when we believe you will line up for a pup from a litter.
Bigger is always better! Hamsters are their healthiest when they have an enclosure with at least 600 square inches of unbroken floor space. In order to purchase a hamster from us, your enclosure and wheel must meet our requirements. You will be asked to send a photo of both in order to reserve a hamster from one of our litters. You can find examples of enclosures we recommend on our care guide.
We are not a pet store, and we operate out of our home, so we do not offer drop in visits.
We charge $70 to adopt a hamster, with $35 of that due in order to be added to the waitlist. The package includes:
For your deposit, we accept PayPal. Once your application has been accepted, we will send you our information.
When you have scheduled pickup for your hamster, you can pay the remainder using PayPal or cash. We do not accept checks.
We constantly strive to improve natural temperament in our hamster lines. That being said, hamsters are prey animals and have only recently been domesticated. When our hamsters go home, they are very young, shy, and will need time to adapt to new surroundings. When you pick up your hamster, we will show you how to handle your hamster and perform a health check. After you have returned home, if you have questions or concerns, we are available for remote consultation.
We will do our best to offer you a hamster that matches the gender, fur length, and color you prefer. When you reach the top of the waitlist, if you are not smitten with any of our available hamsters, then you may wait for the next litter, holding your place in line.
We do not allow breeding of our hamsters. We are not at liberty to share breeding hamsters with newcomers, however, we do support people interested in learning more about Syrian hamster genetics and husbandry.
We work with a select group of ethical Syrian hamster breeders in North America. This group communicates regularly, supports each other, and shares genetic lines. To start, we suggest checking out these resources for information:
